Eine rundes, halb verfallenes Lehm Haus. Mit der Kamera in der Hand drehe ich mich im Kreis. Wie wurde das Haus gebaut, wer hat dort gelebt? Die Bewohner waren mit der Erde verbunden, bis Sonne und Regen sie vertrieben hat. Jetzt ist die Hütte sich selbst überlassen. Gleißendes Sonnenlicht wird durch das durchlöcherte Dach auf die runde Wand projiziert und prallt mit filmischer Kraft auf den Boden. Regen überschwemmt den Lehmboden.
Ich filme Butis Haus im Januar 2013 und im März 2015. Regen und die Dynamik des einfallenden Lichts im Sommer und Herbst bestimmt den Rhythmus des Schnitts. Das Haus steht in Kanye im südlichen Botswana.
Einst ein Haus für alle. Jetzt nur noch für Reiche.
A small, round, half-gone 'mud hut'. You can only spin around and wonder. Wonder how it was built and who lived there. What it gave them and what they left behind? It's a construction that connects the occupants with the earth, until weather makes that too uncomfortable. Now just the hut occupies the hut. The roof's shapely hole projects onto the wall, which collapses with cinematic force to the floor.
